School Notes

This is a small and friendly environment where students learn to socialize, but without the various social pressures at larger schools.
Our Education Model ensures that all students participate and all students learn. Courses are taught around a table in groups of 6-12 students. We place students by ability, not by age, and many students participate in AP courses and college Dual Enrollment. We also look beyond high school graduation to college success.
Our students are educated in logical and rational thinking, relevant economics, and historical perspective, so they may have a successful college experience while still maintaining their ability to think and act with confidence as well as completing college with their moral compass still intact.

Cambrian Academy is a fully accredited academic program focused on preparing students for college and preparing them for life. Each student follows a high school path customized to their future interests. We guide students through exploring their interests, researching college majors and careers, and learning study skills. In Grade 12, we put it all together and guide them through the entire college application process.

By the time your child graduates, the college and carrer landscape may be entirely unrecognizable by today's standards. This is why it is important to help students understand this and understand the skills that will still be producing value in the future. We are a college prep school, but even colleges are changing, and the big names might not be the best choices in 3, 4, or 5 years.

I am a Cambrian Academy alum, now in college, and I want to share my thoughts on my time there. I joined as an international student in 10th grade, and it was one of the best decisions I made. The school was small, but the teachers really got to know me and helped me improve my English. The absolute best part was the community; everyone, from teachers to classmates, felt like family. I made lifelong friends from different countries, and we had so much fun in clubs and school events. Cambrian's focus on college prep was a game-changer, making my university applications smoother. I'd recommend this school to anyone who wants a supportive, welcoming place to grow.

As a parent, I'm incredibly grateful for the impact Cambrian Academy has had on my child. The small class sizes and one-on-one attention made a huge difference, especially during challenging times. The teachers truly cared and were always there to help him whenever he struggled. Cambrian challenged him academically while allowing him to move ahead, he completed advanced math early and took on college level work in high school. Beyond academics, he also developed leadership skills as Student Council President and Vice President of the Interact Club. Thanks to Cambrian's support and encouragement, he graduated as valedictorian of his class with honors. Cambrian helped him grow into a confident, disciplined, independent young man, fully prepared to face the tough college environment. I highly recommend Cambrian Academy to any family looking for a supportive and rigorous school.

My son attended Cambrian Academy from 6th-12th grade, and it was the best decision of our lives. He is a bright child, and his classes were able to be individualized to meet his needs. You aren't just a student at Cambrian, but rather part of a family. Before he was driving, I would often wait 20-30 minutes for my son after school because he would be visiting with all the teachers. Then when he was driving to school, Angela (best admin ever!!!) would often have to finally kick him out because she was "locking up for the day." Not many schools can say they need to force their high schoolers to leave campus. If you are looking for a school that will cater to your child's academic needs, treat them like family, and do all they can to help you be ready for college, then Cambrian is the spot for you.

Cambrian Academy is one of the best small prep schools in the San Jose area. Mr. Delgado and all the teachers work hard at getting your kid to the right college. Both my kids are in Berkeley, thanks in part to the effort from the school in getting them to do the right courses and also helping with their extracurricular activities.

Cambrian Academy is a school that focuses on helping students grow both academically and personally. The small class sizes and one-on-one attention gave me the support I needed to improve, especially during times when I struggled. The teachers take time to understand their students and are always available to help. They care about your progress and make sure you're moving forward with confidence. The academic program is challenging but flexible. I was able to complete advanced math courses early and take on college-level work while still in high school. When I fell behind, the school gave me the tools and support to recover and get back on track. That experience helped me become more disciplined and responsible. Cambrian also gave me the chance to grow as a leader. As Student Council President and Vice President of the Interact Club, I organized events and led service projects. I gained leadership experience and learned how to work with others, communicate clearly, and make a difference in my school community. The school encouraged me to try new things, both inside and outside the classroom. Programs like RYLA helped me become more confident meeting new people and more comfortable speaking up. I also had the chance to help others grow into leaders, which taught me a lot about responsibility and mentorship. Cambrian helped me become more focused, independent, and ready for what comes next. I definitely recommend Cambrian Academy for anyone looking for that one-on-one support and wanting to become a stronger and more independent person prepared and ready for the tough college environment. It's a school where you're challenged to grow, supported when you need it, and given the space to become the best version of yourself.

My son, Sam, started at Cambrian Academy this year, as a sophomore. Best decision we ever made. The school has changed his life, and ours. Sam is very bright but has never liked school. But he loves it now. For the first time, ever, he's engaged, committed, happy, and intellectually curious. He loves the school community, the excellence of the teaching and the flexibility that comes with a small school. He's enjoyed learning about other countries by getting to know the international students and appreciates their focus and commitment to getting to college.

My son Sam started at Cambrian in 2016 as a 10th grader. He is very bright but has never (really) liked school before. Cambrian Academy has changed his life (and ours). He is engaged, excited to learn, enthusiastic and thoughtful. He is enjoying the quality of teaching, the flexibility the school has in tailoring curriculum to his interests and the international student body--he's enjoyed learning about other countries and he appreciates the energy and seriousness with which international students approach high school. We couldn't be happier with Cambrian.

Here are just a few of the many reasons I believe Cambrian Academy is the best school in the area. 1) The teachers are incredibly dedicated. They cheerfully give my child extra help during lunch breaks and after school. They love to teach and it shows in their preparation, presentation of subject matter, and enthusiasm. 2) The class sizes are small. The average is 10 per class. Students sit around a conference table so everyone is fully engaged in the discussions. 3) The administration cares about meeting the needs of every student. Because of the school size, it is able to help nurture each person's strengths while addressing his weaknesses. 4) Students are placed according to ability, not age. This has resulted in some being accelerated by 4 or 5 grades. 5) Communication from administration and teachers is superb. My child's grades, attendance, and homework are all accessible online. Just a few clicks of the mouse and I can view her progress or contact any teacher. If you believe the skills necessary for success are obtained through stellar education given by knowledgeable, caring teachers, I urge you to take a tour.
