I went to camp e wen akee what geels like forever ago. I spent 15 months there got restrained at least a hundred times. Though back in the late 90's 98-99 whenni was thete it was alot different. The original concept behind the camp built by Jack eckerd was good. We learned all sorts of skills built our tents as they called them. The three groups were the Mohicans the pathfinders and the girls group Neche. I was a Mohican. Though there was three different groups interaction with the other's was forbidden. Especially with the girls group. Kinda a sad thing suuch s great program no longer actually exists.

I was in Ewanakee as a teenager I was unstable I ran away from camp twice once right from camp and another time I walked away from the bus trip back from a home visit. After a few months of struggles the techniques they used finally got to me. As a group, they solve everyday problems. No one deals with problems on their own and the day doesn't progress unless the problem is solved as a group. I definitely learned a lot about myself before graduating from Eckerd. If any parents out there are debating on sending their problem child there, DO IT. This place will build your low self-esteem or tear down your cocky ego. They definitely have the systems in place to work with all kinds of problems kids are having. The best part is the kids don't miss any school while at camp. If I can remember correctly I think we had 2 grades worth of school by the time you graduate. I'm glad I was sent there.
