Manatee Learning Academy (MLA) is a private K12 school in
Bradenton, Florida, committed to providing personalized education
in a supportive, structured, and family-centered environment. MLA
serves students with a wide range of academic needs, including
students who are performing above grade level, students who need
additional support, students who benefit from smaller classes, and
students who need credit recovery or a fresh start. The school's
mission is to help every student build confidence, regain a love of
learning, and make meaningful academic progress through
individualized instruction and strong relationships with
teachers.
Each MLA student receives an Individual Learning Plan based on
academic performance, learning needs, graduation requirements, and
future goals. Students are placed according to ability rather than
relying only on age or grade level, allowing teachers to provide
instruction that is appropriately challenging and supportive.
Academic progress is closely monitored throughout the year using
classroom performance, curriculum-based assessments, and IXL
diagnostic benchmarks in language arts and mathematics. This
approach helps the school identify learning gaps, measure growth,
adjust instruction, and keep families informed about student
progress.
MLA offers a comprehensive academic program that includes
language arts, mathematics, science, history, Spanish, health,
physical education, art, STEM and STEAM opportunities, and college
and career preparation. Elementary students receive a strong
academic foundation along with regular physical education and art.
Middle and high school students participate in core academic
courses and additional programs designed to prepare them for
graduation, postsecondary education, vocational training, and
employment. MLA is also expanding career-focused programming,
including Allied Health opportunities for upper-level high school
students.
The high school program is designed to meet students where they
are and provide a clear path toward graduation. Juniors and seniors
who are missing credits may complete credit recovery while
continuing their current classes, helping them catch up without
falling further behind. Each high school student receives an
individualized graduation plan that identifies completed credits,
missing requirements, academic priorities, and the courses needed
to remain on track. Teachers provide ongoing progress monitoring,
academic support, and one-on-one assistance to help students
complete requirements and earn a high school diploma.
Qualified high school students may also participate in dual
enrollment opportunities through MLA's college partners. Students
who meet academic requirements can begin earning college credit
while completing high school. Dual enrollment allows motivated
students to reduce the time and cost associated with earning a
college degree while strengthening their academic skills and
preparing for postsecondary expectations.Small class sizes are a
central part of the MLA experience.
Teachers are able to know their students personally, identify
areas of difficulty quickly, and provide direct support before
students become overwhelmed or discouraged. MLA emphasizes
accountability, respectful behavior, responsibility, and consistent
communication between the school and families. Students are
expected to participate actively, complete assignments, follow
school expectations, and take ownership of their educational
progress.
MLA also recognizes that students do not all succeed in the
same type of setting. Flexible educational options, including
hybrid programs, allow families to select a schedule that better
fits their child's academic, personal, and family needs. Regardless
of the program selected, students receive structured instruction,
progress monitoring, and access to individualized academic
support.
The school day operates from 7:40 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for high
school, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for elementary students and 8:30
a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for middle school students. Morning and
after-school care available for families who need extended
hours.
Meals are included Monday through Thursday, Friday is pizza
fundraiser day, monthly club days, student activities, special
events, field trips, spirit activities, teen nights, and family
engagement opportunities help create a strong sense of community.
MLA believes that education is most successful when students,
families, teachers, and school leaders work together as a
team.
Manatee Learning Academy accepts eligible Florida scholarship
programs, which may allow qualifying students to attend with no
out-of-pocket tuition expense. The school works with families to
understand available scholarship options and complete the steps
needed to secure funding. This makes personalized private education
accessible to families who may not have previously believed private
school was within reach.

This school has changed everything for my son. He was unsure of himself after years of falling through the cracks and not getting the help he needed. I kick myself for waiting until third grade when he didn't pass the FCAT to look for a new school. The first year, repeat third, they worked on his confidence and helped him build himself. He is now not afraid to ask questions and raise his hand. This has been a life changer for him. Thank you so much MLA!!!!
