Memphis Oral School For The Deaf Photo #1 - The Front Door of Memphis Oral School for the Deaf is always noticed from the road by the two painted horses stationed on our front lawn. These horses were donated by patrons of the Germantown Horse Show.
Memphis Oral School For The Deaf Photo #2 - These horses help make our school recognizable to passerby's and visitors! One is painted with gift wrapping, presents, and ribbons, tying into a large fundraiser put on each year by our fundraising group Subsidium. The other horse is painted in a musical theme with notes, keyboards, violins, and other instruments which highlight the musical program at MOSD "Play By Ear".

  • Every child has the right to develop their individual capabilities to the greatest extent possible. In the case of hearing-impaired children, additional resources are required in order to provide a sound education foundation and an equal opportunity to succeed. Memphis Oral School for the Deaf exists for the purpose of insuring that these unique resources are readily available to those young children who need them. With the combined support of the community and Memphis Oral School, young deaf children in Memphis and the Mid-South area continue to have the opportunity to learn to talk.
  • Services include:
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Cochlear Implant Services
  • A Parent-Infant Training Program, Sound Beginnings, providing home or center-based sessions.
  • A Day School providing Preschool classes for hearing-impaired children (2 thru 6 years of age). Daily mainstreaming with hearing children. A summer program is also provided.
  • Before (7:30 a.m.) and After School (3-4:45 p.m.) Care is available.
  • Mainstream consulation services are also available to school districts throughout the Mid-South.
