- School Motto: Changing Middle School Education Through Inspiration
- My City School spends the first three weeks of school exploring children`s strongest intelligences and then creating activities that allow children to use those individual strengths to learn.Students learn to develop confidence in their capabilities at My City School.
- The foundation of personality is built on confidence and self-esteem. Feeling competent develops confidence which leads to developing positive self-esteem. When children feel competent they will be willing to explore their world which results in learning. At MCS, we help to strengthen this confidence that allows them to thrive.
- MCS offers up to fivefreeworkshops a year for the community, parents, educators etc. that teach additional ways to reach students and make learning easier. Sharing our program and skills with the community allows us to make a move towards changing education for those with Learning Differences, and furthering thebelief that education should be made accessible to all.

I wholeheartedly recommend My City School as an exceptional educational environment for both students and educators. As the lead Social Studies teacher and support teacher for many other subjects, I have had the privilege of working at My City School for almost seven years. During this time, I have experienced firsthand how our high teacher-to-student ratio and co-teaching model create an atmosphere where every student receives the attention, guidance, and encouragement they need to thrive academically and socially. We are a rigorous school with high expectations, and we provide the necessary support and scaffolding for students to achieve their highest potential. One of the strengths that sets My City School apart is our deeply collaborative and nurturing approach. Our staff works together closely to individualize curriculum and tailor instruction to each learner's strengths, interests, and areas of growth. As a special education teacher, something that impresses me about My City School is how we differentiate learning by creating leveled assignments, and the one-on-one and small group instruction we are able to provide within the larger whole-group setting. We are mindful of students' sensory and learning needs, and we design lessons that reflect our commitment to a multi-sensory, hands-on, and project-based learning experience. This approach not only supports engagement, but also helps students build meaningful connections to their work and the world around them. We create a supportive environment where students can feel safe to make mistakes and learn from them, and to challenge themselves. From an educator's perspective, My City School is equally supportive. The head of school, Jennifer Larson, has always valued flexibility and professional growth; for example, she worked closely with me to accommodate my graduate school schedule while I was pursuing a teaching credential. The positive, cooperative environment among teachers fosters creativity and encourages us to continually refine our practice. After seven years, I remain proud to be part of a school community that prioritizes compassion, curiosity, and student-centered learning, and I recommend My City School without reservation.
