New Covenant School is an educational community founded in the classical, Christian tradition and rooted in the liberal arts.
With 485 students, New Covenant maintains a small school atmosphere at the same time, it affords the larger opportunities you would expect in a larger school.
Curriculum and educational methods employed are intended to meet the academic, social, cultural and spiritual needs of the traditional learner.

New Covenant Schools is a PK12 classical Christian school in Lynchburg, Virginia, where students are challenged academically, known personally, and encouraged to grow in wisdom, character, and faith. We seek to develop thoughtful, articulate, lifelong learners who know how to think carefully, communicate clearly, and live with purpose. New Covenant's curriculum follows the classical tradition, drawing from the great books, ideas, and questions that have shaped Western civilization. Students study literature, history, mathematics, science, theology, languages, music, and the arts as interconnected disciplines. In the early years, students build a strong foundation of knowledge and develop a love of learning. As they mature, they learn to question, analyze, discuss, and reason carefully. In the upper grades, students develop the ability to communicate their ideas persuasively through both the written and spoken word.Latin and Greek, logic, classical rhetoric, rich literature, discussion, writing, and a rigorous liberal arts curriculum contribute to an education designed to teach students not simply what to know, but how to think.
One of the defining characteristics of New Covenant is our size. We believe education is deeply relational. In a smaller school community, teachers know their students as individuals, recognize their strengths and challenges, and invest meaningfully in their growth.Being known also creates opportunities. Students are encouraged to participate broadly in the life of the school, whether stepping onto an athletic field, performing on stage, making music, serving others, taking on leadership, or trying something new. Rather than simply having opportunities available, our students have meaningful opportunities to participate.
A New Covenant education extends beyond the classroom. Fine and performing arts, athletics, leadership, and service are important parts of the student experience. Through these opportunities, students develop perseverance, teamwork, creativity, discipline, humility, and confidence. At New Covenant, we teach students not just what to know, but how to think; not just how to take a test, but how to learn; and not simply how to make a living, but how to live.
