The school is centered on a blend of yoga and meditation practice, artistic expression, sustainable practices, intellectual exploration, ethical values and service.

New Day Ananda Marga School Of Portland Photo #2 - NDS`s students spend some of the most valuable and impressionable years of their lives interacting with and caring for the Earth in our expansive organic-permaculture garden, and witnessing adults in their community doing the same. This sets students up for a lifetime of respect and love for our valuable Earthly resources.

New Day Ananda Marga School Of Portland Photo #3 - Daily classroom rhythm consists of morning circle, free play, guided activities/projects and outdoor play. Many of the classroom materials are handmade and come from nature, with an emphasis on objects that have multiple uses and stimulate imaginative play. Our classrooms offer academic choice materials built upon foundational concepts in math, art, science, language, writing and practical life with hands-on exploration.

Our school is a Neo-Humanist preschool dedicated to the holistic development of mind, body, heart and spirit through cultivation of creativity, intellect, ethical values and intuition.
Our education teaches respectful & loving service to all beings of this universe.
Our curriculum is based on the principles of Neo-Humanist Education (www.gurukul.edu).
New Day School is a vegan preschool with emphasis on wholistic development of children.

New Day School is a Neo-Humanistic preschool offering a full-day program for children ages 2 to 5 years. Families may choose from two-, three-, or five-day schedules to best meet their needs. Our expansive net-zero campus includes two classroom buildings, an on-site kitchen, a conference hall, a meditation hall, spacious outdoor play areas, and educational gardens. Each classroom maintains a child-to-teacher ratio of 8:1 (16 children with two teachers), providing a nurturing and engaging learning environment.
Our Circle of Love Curriculum fosters holistic development by nurturing social consciousness, ecological stewardship, and individual potential through hands-on learning experiences. Emphasizing ethical values such as Helping Hands, Inner Light, Nature Study, and Kind Deeds, this curriculum integrates monthly themes into stories, projects, and songs, encouraging children to explore the interconnectedness of the universe.
Enriching activities including puppetry, music, drama, sports, yoga, language learning, gardening, and art projects, alongside ample playtime, make learning both meaningful and enjoyable. Our daily routine begins with a morning circle, featuring seasonal songs, rhymes, and games, followed by free play and guided activities encompassing baking, painting, and crafts, all designed to enhance language acquisition, motor skills, and creative expression.
For children aged 4 to 5, our "academic choice" materials further reinforce foundational concepts in math, art, science, language, writing, and practical life through hands-on exploration. Outdoor time, regardless of weather, encourages imaginative play in our expansive play yard and gardens, equipped with natural playscapes and sturdy climbing structures.
We believe that strong partnerships between home and school enrich each child's educational experience. Families are encouraged to participate in school life through volunteer opportunities, celebrations, and community events that strengthen our supportive learning community.Our daily meal program reflects our commitment to health, sustainability, and inclusivity. Children are served a freshly prepared hot vegan lunch and afternoon snack made in our school kitchen using wholesome ingredients, including plant-based proteins, whole grains, and seasonal fruits and vegetables.
