Overview
At Mercy High School, intellectually curious, capable and compassionate young women learn and grow in a welcoming and dynamic environment that reflects the values of the Sisters of Mercy. On our beautiful 26-acre campus featuring state-of-the art science labs, fine arts facilities, and playing fields, Mercy students are engaged learners, creative artists, and dedicated athletes who are inspired by our exceptional faculty. Rich traditions, including Mercy Day, Field Day, and the Mercy ring, unite Mercy graduates across the generations, creating a powerful personal network of nearly 8,000 Mercy alumnae in Baltimore and beyond.
Entering freshmen can apply to a variety of programs that respond to their personal interests. The highly selective Women in Medicine Program in partnership with Mercy Medical Center, the Sister Agnese Neumann Scholars Program in partnership with MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, the nationally recognized Project Lead the Way-Biomedical Science, and Women in Technology, offer an intensive four-year STEM experience.
Today, Mercy stands as the only Catholic girls' school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the Middle Years Programme. Widely considered the world's premier academic program, the IB aligns with Mercy High School's commitment to fostering connections between student learning in the classroom and the real world.
Four-year programs in Visual Arts, Music, Theater and a two-track Dance Program offer students training at high levels.
Mercy`s individual approach to educating young women supports personal growth and achievement. Each student is paired with a faculty Adviser who is her guide academically, socially and spiritually. A four-year seminar program guides students from freshman study skills to the thrill of college acceptance. Service opportunities, liturgies, retreats, and daily prayer help students grow in their relationship with God and others. Traditions, clubs, and sports-including The Classic, an annual basketball game with Maryvale Preparatory School-offer every Mercy Girl a chance to develop skills necessary for success. Students enjoy a comfortable learning environment which includes new classroom furniture and efficient heating and air conditioning.
The Catholic High School of Baltimore provides a positive educational environment for young women throughout Maryland. The school community challenges its constituents to academic excellence, responsible leadership, and Christian community service.
We prepare students for leadership roles in the community, in the Church, and in the world of the twenty-first century.
