School Notes

  • Madrasa Tul Ilm is a private school.
  • The beginnings of MTI School of Knowledge can be traced back more than fifteen years.
  • It was originally a home schooling program established by four African American devoted sisters: Sr. Muslimah Mustafa, Sr. Jamila Al-Khattab, Sr. Mumina Blackman, and Sr. Saeeda Amatullah.
  • The school began with the involvement of only a couple families.
  • Soon, however, the program expanded from just two families to six.
  • The school has come a long way since the beginning.
  • Little by little the school has added on to what it already had.
  • The Masjid first started out with a small building downtown.
  • The school that they had was a small home school consisting of about five students.
  • Even with that it was still full time.
  • After much work, Dr. Haroon Qazi bought and donated area and began construction on a Masjid.
  • The idea was to have a full time school in the basement area and the prayer area on the upper level.
