Gateway Academy offers a highly individualized and structured program for 6th12th grade students and young adults aged 1826 who learn differently. Located in Houston, Gateway combines strong academics, research-based teaching, integrated counseling, college and employment readiness, and physical wellness to support the whole student. Our expert faculty brings both subject mastery and a deep understanding of student needs, helping learners build confidence, develop real-world skills, and graduate ready for life. From 2016 to 2024, 97% of Gateway graduates have gone on to college, continued education programs, or meaningful careers-proof that with the right environment, different thinkers thrive..

For two decades, Gateway Academy has been a leading private, non-profit school located in Houston for students with social and learning differences in grades 612. We specialize in serving learners with a wide range of special needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, anxiety, and learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia.
At Gateway, we prefer to use umbrella terms like "social and learning differences" because our students represent a range of strengths and challenges, not just a diagnosis. This intentional approach fosters a community where neurodiverse learners support one another, grow together, and gain the skills to succeed in the real world.
For young adults, Gateway extends its approach to a specialized post-high school program designed to bridge the gap between education and independent living. This program focuses on self-sufficiency, financial literacy, and work readiness, providing personalized coaching and real-world experiences. With these tools, our young adults transition confidently into the next chapter of their lives, ready to lead with purpose and independence.

Gateway Academy is my home. Our group of faculty & staff respects, cares, and listens as we work to determine the best path for each child as they enter young adulthood. Students come for academics and support but they leave with social awareness, self-understanding, employment experience, true friendships, and a voice.

Gateway Academy is a school like no other! Staff are passionate about teaching neurodiverse learners, and strive to give each student an immersive educational experience. Their internship programs give real-life experiences, as well as a focus on planning for their next steps in life. Each student is ready to be a member of their community when they leave.

I love working at The Gateway Academy! As a staff member, it is incredibly rewarding to be able to teach and engage with our amazing group of students and parents. My fellow teachers are very passionate about their areas of expertise and the administration is highly dedicated to providing staff with ongoing training and development opportunities.
