Become What Thou Art Founded in 1917, The Harley School is a progressive, college-preparatory, independent day school serving Nursery through Grade 12. Student-to-teacher ratio is 1:7, with devoted faculty whose average tenure is 17 years. Education is student-centered, blending academic rigor with creativity, joy, and purpose. Lower School offers hands-on, developmentally aligned learning that nurtures curiosity and confidence. Middle School features block-schedule classes, interdisciplinary projects, and built-in social-emotional development. Upper School provides a wide range of Advanced Placement and advanced courses, plus electives, independent studies, and senior capstone opportunities. Harley's philosophy emphasizes depth of learning, meaningful relationships, and intellectual exploration. 25-acre campus includes state-of-the-art facilities for academics, arts, athletics, wellness, and outdoor education. 27,000-square-foot Academic Center houses the Lehman Center for the Visual Arts and a professional Glass Studio. The Commons is the first PreK12 space in the country designed around sustainability education, featuring a science center, Makerspace, civic engagement hub, and mindfulness center. The Peckham Wellness Center supports physical fitness, emotional balance, and whole-community wellbeing. Outdoor facilities include athletic fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, gardens, and nature spaces for exploration and movement. Students come from 30 school districts across five counties, creating a diverse and inclusive community. Harley's mission centers on empathy, civic engagement, environmental stewardship, creativity, and joyful learning.
