Our program is designed around how gifted students actually think and learn, with personalized instruction, flexible ability-based grouping, and hands-on, inquiry-driven experiences. We integrate rigorous academics with STEAM, enrichment, and real-world learning while placing equal emphasis on social-emotional development. At Knox, students find both intellectual challenge and a close-knit community where they are understood, supported, and celebrated for who they are.
  • The Knox School of Santa Barbara is a small independent school for gifted and advanced learners in Kindergarten through 8th grade. We support the whole child socially, emotionally, intellectually, and academically through a personalized program designed specifically for how gifted students think, learn, and grow.
  • Our approach meets each student where they are. Instruction is shaped around individual readiness, strengths, and areas for growth rather than a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Students are organized in small, multi-age cohorts spanning Kindergarten, Elementary, and Middle School. This structure fosters age-peer connection alongside flexible academic grouping, allowing for cross-age collaboration and appropriately challenging instruction. Our curriculum emphasizes inquiry, creativity, problem-solving, abstract reasoning, and meaningful interdisciplinary learning.
  • In Kindergarten, learning is play-basedwhile still nurturing gifted children who are ready for academic challenge. As students progress, they develop strong skills in writing, research, communication, and critical thinking through projects, real-world problem-solving, field trips, and hands-on STEAM experiences.
