School Notes

  • The Roig Academy is a K8 day school in Miami, Florida, dedicated to empowering students with language-based learning disabilities, including dyslexia.
  • With an average student-to-teacher ratio of 7:1 to 10:1, each child receives the individualized attention needed to thrive.
  • In alignment with our mission, our instruction is rooted in research and guided by Structured Literacy, as supported by the International Dyslexia Association, and delivered through explicit, systematic teaching.
  • Paired with the IB Primary Years Programme's inquiry-based curriculum, we nurture confident, curious learners who take ownership of their education and grow into reflective, caring, internationally minded contributors.
  • Co-founded in 2000 by Dr. Jennifer C. Roig, Ed.D., and Gus Roig, The Roig Academy is Miami's only International Baccalaureate World Day School designed specifically for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade who learn differently, including those with dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and ADD. Our ROIG approach (Reflect, Observe, Inquire, and Grow) guides students to take ownership of their learning, while teachers use differentiated, multisensory instruction to meet each child where they are.
  • Reading instruction follows a Structured Literacy approach, guided by the Science of Reading - a research-based, multisensory approach integrated with the IB Primary Years Programme's (PYP) inquiry-based framework to build both strong literacy skills and global, critical thinking. With a student-to-faculty ratio that averages 1:7 to 1:10, and class sizes ranging from one-on-one instruction to no more than ten students, our teachers deliver a truly individualized education.
  • The Roig Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)/Cognia, approved by the Florida Department of Education as a private special education school, and is a member of the International Dyslexia Association and the National Association for Bilingual Education. Students also benefit from a supportive, whole-child environment and go on to transition successfully into Miami-Dade's college preparatory high schools.
