Our mission is to help students rediscover confidence in themselves as learners while preparing them for success in college, careers, and life.Unlike traditional high schools, The University School is intentionally small, allowing every student to receive personalized attention from experienced educators who understand that no two learners are alike. With an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 4:1, our faculty develop meaningful relationships with students, tailoring instruction to their strengths, interests, and learning profiles. This individualized approach enables students to make significant academic progress while developing the executive functioning, self-advocacy, and organizational skills essential for long-term success.Our rigorous college-preparatory curriculum includes honors and Advanced Placement coursework, project-based learning, dual enrollment opportunities, and experiential education designed to engage students in meaningful, real-world learning. Students are encouraged to think critically, collaborate effectively, and develop the confidence to tackle complex challenges.The University School serves a diverse community of learners, including students who have found that larger or more traditional educational settings were not the right fit. Many of our students benefit from individualized support for executive functioning, attention, anxiety, learning differences, or social-emotional growth. Our integrated support services, counseling resources, and collaborative faculty ensure that students receive the guidance they need while maintaining high academic expectations.We work closely with families, school districts, and outside professionals to create comprehensive support plans that help students succeed both academically and personally. For students with IEPs or 504 Plans, our team partners with districts to provide a structured, supportive environment where students can continue making meaningful progress toward their educational goals while preparing for successful transitions to college, career pathways, or, when appropriate, a return to their home district.Beyond academics, students participate in leadership opportunities, clubs, community service, athletics, creative arts, and experiential programming that foster independence, resilience, and personal growth.
