Valley Waldorf is a tiny school. It has only a few teachers and few students, but it has so much joy. They have moved from a gated-entrance church to what seems to be a large house, and they will move again to a bigger establishment. I have heard that it was a large and thriving school before the pandemic, and it is now growing, but organically. So, there is a smaller classroom size that is growing. The aim of the theory of the school is to develop the child with wonder, curiosity, desire, and the confidence to learn and create, and then they could pursue the facts to learn. In this world of technology changing everything exponentially, some educators wonder if they should drill the children with facts and figures when computers will be providing all of that. Their thought is that the children who will succeed in the future are those who think and create. My son likes this school. He was recently diagnosed with ADHD, and the instructors are continuously learning and growing to work with him. And the biggest thing is the actual teaching of social skills. I have studied education, and there was little to no coursework on how to teach kids social skills. They do that here. The biggest challenge, however, is if one wants to pull a child out of the school, where to place them and why. Because the academics really start at 2nd or 3rd grade. This school currently goes from pre-K to 5th, and they are in talks of going up to 6th grade.

My son attended VWCS from grades 1-4. He thrived in their classrooms and with their low student:teacher ratio and hands-on, highly engaging education style. We recently moved out of state, but had we stayed in the area, he would still be a student here! We love VWCS.
