  • The Baltimore Actor's Theatre Conservatory - The Convervatory was founded in 1979 by our late founder/artistic directorr, Helen Grigal. The BATC is a unique school that offers both a rigorous college preparatory academic program and a challenging, professional performing arts program, all under one roof. Students study dance, music, and drama collectively.
  • Participation in these classes will offer a world view ofthe performing arts that single discipline study does not afford. Our affilation with Trinity College London offers examinations in Musical Theatre, Speech and Drama, Singing, Piano, and Music Theory. Sussessful students will be awarded credits that can be used for advanced placement in their tertiary choices. Our affiliation with the University of Nebraska, Lincoln offers college classes for students enrolled in our program. Classes in United States History, Sociology, and Psychology are currently offered and successful students receive transfer credit for advanced placement as they enroll in post-secondary programs.
  • The BATC is not for every student but for the student who wants to work hard in a challenging and demanding program, the Conservatory is the place to begin or continue your journey in your pursuit in the performing arts.
  • Baltimore Actor's Theatre - The Convervatory was founded in 1959 by Helen Grigal. Since its inception, BAT has been a multi-faceted operation providing myriad cultural and entertainment activities for its audiences and members. BAT has a large membership of performers spanning all ages. Its versatility is enhanced by its ability to not only give members a year-round performing venue, but additionally to provide training in all three disciplines: Music, Drama, Dance. The Baltimore Actors' Theatre has mounted a variety of presentations including proscenium, the round, and on international tour. BAT has performed at the Lyric Opera House, Ford's Theatre, Shady Grove and Painters Mill Music Fairs, Merriweather Post Pavilion, Peabody Concert Hall, Kraushaar Auditorium, Goucher College. BAT has presented three full-scale productions of the musical, Peter Pan, with original Flying by Foy at The Lyric Opera House. It has also toured internationally to the United Kingdom and Australia with its original musical production of The Phantom of the Opera.
