School Notes

  • Mt. Carmel School was founded in 1925 by Dr. Lela G. McConnell. We`ve been educating, mentoring, and equipping young people to be light in this dark world for a long time.
  • What transpired on this Eastern Kentucky mountaintop in the 1920s with a handful of college students has grown into a world-wide ministry.
  • The Kentucky Mountain Holiness Association, which grew from Mount Carmel School and its institutions and ministries, has touched every part of the earth.
  • A continuous line of young people have come and continue to come to Mount Carmel School from around the world to study.
  • Many have found Christ here and have begun their preparation to serve a needy world.
  • Most further their education in some of America`s best colleges, and many return to their country to be life-changers.
  • There is not a continent untouched by an alumnus of Mount Carmel School. In a day when Christianity and the message of Christ are being challenged as never before in the modern era, Mount Carmel School is more important, more needed than ever before.
  • MT. CARMEL SCHOOL is a Christian K-12 school in Eastern Kentucky. We are a combination day school and boarding school. Our typical student enrollment for grades 7-12 is approximately fifty-five students. We are authorized by the government to enroll international students on an F-1 student VISA. Our students come from Eastern Kentucky, other states within the United States, and around the world. Currently, we have students enrolled from South Korea, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Papua New Guinea.
  • Mt. Carmel School offers a college-preparatory curriculum and approximately 80% of our graduates attend college. We are accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). We are recognized by the State of Kentucky as a certified Non-Public School. Our diploma is recognized by all major colleges and universities within the United States. In recent years we have had graduates admitted to Calvin College, the University of Kentucky, Purdue University, Michigan State University, Asbury College, and others.
  • Mt. Carmel School provides a college-preparatory curriculum in a nurturing Christian environment. Our students benefit from a low student-teacher ratio as well as interacting with faculty and staff outside of normal school hours in a boarding setting. We emphasize a Christian worldview and the development of moral character.

I am so grateful for having found Mount Carmel Christian Boarding School for my son Jamey. We were referred by Jennifer Adkins Frasure who is a former student. The Holy Spirit directed us from FL to KY with no more than the referral of a fellow Christian. From arrival to the completion of 11th grade, we have been welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The administration and teachers genuinely care about their students. They want the children to succeed academically while becoming more grounded in their faith. The curriculum is challenging and fosters a deep understanding in faith. The community at Mount Carmel is special. The emphasis on character development prepares the students for life outside the classroom as well. The structure is conducive to my sons personality. Being busy from 6 am to 10 pm is healthy and rewarding for him. The chores he is assigned makes him a well rounded young man. I whole-heartedly recommend Mount Carmel Christian Boarding School. It is a nurturing faith centered learning environment that is making a lasting impression on my sons life.
