• St. Nicholas School is an independent Episcopal day school for children, grades preschool through five and enrolls students from a variety of racial, religious, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• We began as a neighborhood preschool program at Grace Episcopal Church.
• Our programs expanded significantly in the early 1970s with the establishment of the Early Learning Center and with the addition of elementary grades.
• The first class of sixth graders graduated in 1978, and the school became separately incorporated in 1981.
• The campus is located on 24 picturesque acres in the East Brainerd area of Chattanooga.
• Facilities include classroom cottages, a gymnasium, a dining facility and a chapel/fine arts center.
• Buildings also feature shelter rooms for storms and other emergencies.
• Students enjoy walking trails, an extensive garden program, a swimming pool and multiple playgrounds.

When the way we teach and learn is combined with the ability to nurture our students socially and spiritually, it`s a rare combination, indeed. We foster independence and creativity while developing a child`s intrinsic motivation. We produce caring, inquisitive thinkers who love to learn.

  • Ben Curtis '93 - Benjamin Bowmar Curtis is an American actor who became known as the Dell Dude in a series of commercials for Dell Computers between 2000 and 2003. Since then, he has acted on stage and on screen.
  • Marcie Ulin '92 - Producer | Writer | Additional Crew. Marcie Ulin is known for The Flight Attendant (2020), Nashville (2012) and Charlie's Angels (2011).
  • Maithilee Kunda '96 - Maithilee Kunda is assistant professor of computer science and computer engineering at Vanderbilt University. Her work in artificial intelligence, in the area of cognitive systems, looks at how visual thinking contributes to learning and intelligent behavior, with a focus on applications for individuals on the autism spectrum.
