School Notes

  • Children's Own School has been a Montessori preschool tradition since 1942. We provide a carefully planned, stimulating Montessori environment to help children develop within themselves the foundational habits, attitudes, skills and ideas which are essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning. COS recognizes that each child has a unique nature and, with that, the capacity to become a successful learner.
  • We promote opportunities for independence, perseverance, and creativity. We guide children to self-directed learning and discovery. We emphasive kindness and graciousness in our classroom communities.
  • We believes that parents and teachers are partners working together for the benefit of each child.
  • Our primary goal is to provide each child with an excellent Montessori education using the principles established by Dr. Maria Montessori and sanctioned by the Association Montessori Internationale.
  • We serve 89 children in 4 primary classrooms (2.9 - 6.0 years old) and 1 preprimary program (children 22 months-2.8 months). All classrooms are staffed with a Montessori trained teacher and a classroom assistant. We offer half day, school day, and limited extended day enrollment options.

I attended this school from 1964 to 1966, and I loved it! It's nice to see that it's still in the same big old house surrounded by huge trees.
