I previously attended Judge Memorial for my Freshman year of high school, but immediately transferred out of the school at the end of the year. I began the school year with a lot of confidence in the portrayed academics and social environment. But as soon as I attended school, I was exposed to a completely different environment than what was displayed in their facade of advertisements. The school is entirely centered on drugs. As a freshman, it was a complete shock for me. The vast majority of students have severe nicotine addictions from electronic cigarettes, and constantly endorse it on school grounds. Many kids on campus fall to peer pressure and become addicted because many of the popular kids smoke as well. The teachers and administration is useless, since all the kids that snitched were ostracized by all. But the drugs aside, I tried to focus on academics to blur my view of the social lives of the kids at my school. Yet, that vision became a horror as well. The teachers that I experienced were inconsistent, unorganized, and uninterested in teaching the kids they were given. I vividly recall in my English class, My teacher Mr. Steffens, would not grade my opinion paper purely because my opinion was contradictory to his. The paper was an opinion piece about a passage of the book "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare, and since it was assigned as an opinionated, I explained and justified my opinion. My father proof-read the paper, and said it was perfectly justifiable. Yet the day after I turn it in, I was humiliated by the teacher in front of class as he criticized my papers quality and my self confidence. He then announced in front of the class that "Papers like this will not get graded, put the right opinion down". Then again, this is just one experience out of many that is motivating me to write this review right now. For the readers viewing this, I hope you can understand that this school is a facade of marketing generated to create more revenue from tuition. I highly advise every parent considering sending their kid to this school to reconsider and explore different options because I assure you all that there are definitely better schools for your child than Judge Memorial Catholic High School.

Fantastic school academically and spiritually. After several years at Juan Diego, the other Catholic high school in Salt Lake City, we moved to Judge. No comparison, Judge does an excellent job preparing kids for college. JD, not so much. Facilities are definitely old and the school is warm in the fall and cold in the winter. However, the overall experience is well worth the older facilities.
