McGillis is home to over 350 students spread across three divisions - Lower School (K-5), Middle School (6-8), and The Learning Center, or TLC, which serves students with language-based learning differences (dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia) in 3rd through 8th Grade.We learn and play on our urban campus located in the Douglas Neighborhood near downtown Salt Lake City.
We are an independent private school, meaning that we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit governed by a Board of Trustees, and are accredited by NWAIS, the Northwest Association of Independent Schools.
At McGillis, we know our students excel academically. But even more important: Their learning is human-centered-full of wonder, vibrance, and joy.
McGillis is unique because we are a secular school founded on six Jewish values that we believe are universal. With those values and our mission as our foundation and guiding lights, our educators have built a student-centered, progressive, academically vigorous program that builds on itself year after year, Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
Our Why. We know that tomorrow's leaders will need to be collaborators who not only think critically, but who also want to create a better world.
Our How. To that end, McGillis teachers weave our values into lesson plans, discussions, and projects, starting with our youngest learners. This integrated learning results not only in students who get great test scores and are ready for high school, but who are also developing into kind and empathetic humans.
