Since 1894, Woodward has provided an independent, college preparatory program for girls in grades 6-12 and Post Graduate, that fosters a love of learning and serious instruction in the varied academic disciplines, the arts, and athletics.
Woodward School seeks to enroll students and families who are committed to the academic mission of the School and who will be positive and engaged members of our community.
We are proud of our history, the quality of our educational programs, and of the articulate, self-confident, and responsible citizens our students become.

This cost includes the cost a week of mixed activities daily and a weekly field trip to rotating location such as the Boston Science Museum and New England Aquarium.
Founded by a prominent local physician (and cousin to President
John Adams) Dr. Ebenezer Woodward and his wife Mary in 1869, The
Woodward School opened its doors in 1894. It stands today
as the only non-sectarian, all-girls private school south of
Boston. The school still occupies it's original and
beautifully restored, historic Queen Anne-style schoolhouse in
downtown Quincy, Massachusetts.

The Academic Experience:
Woodward's educational philosophy revolves around giving every
young woman a voice. By eliminating the coeducational social
pressures that often quiet female students in middle and high
school, Woodward creates a space where girls feel their thoughts
and opinions are truly respected.
-The Small School Advantage: With a 4:1
student-to-teacher ratio, education at Woodward is
hyper-personalized. Teachers have the bandwidth to provide
extensive support, tailor lessons to individual learning paces, and
ensure no student falls through the cracks.
-Curriculum & Advanced Placement: The school
offers a rigorous college-preparatory framework including nine
Advanced Placement (AP) courses, dual-enrollment opportunities, and
a historically strong Latin program.
-IMPACT Learning:A cornerstone of the
Upper School experience is the innovative IMPACT Learning program,
grounded in the philosophy that "doing is learning." This program
guides upperclassmen to find immersive, two-week real-world
environment internships. Past internship locations include MIT's
Nano Lab, Reebok, Massachusetts State House and more.
-College Counseling: Personalized college
advisory begins early in the 9th grade. This sustained focus yields
a consistent 100% college matriculation rate for graduating
seniors. Woodward's college counseling ratio is 15 to 1 vs 40 to 1
at most private schools. College placement from the Class of 2026
include: University of Michigan, University of California Irvine,
Northeastern, Skidmore, LSU and many more!
Campus Life & Culture:
Woodward does not require school uniforms, opting instead for a
dress code that lets students express themselves and ensures they
are both, confident and comfortable.
Student Clubs and Theater are both parts of the academic day for
Woodward students. Students are encouraged to try new things
without taking time away from their other interets. It gives kids
who otherwise would not have participated in a certain club or
theater production because of lack of time, to get deep into
something new.
Despite Woodward's boutique size, the school draws a highly diverse
student body from over 35 different local communities across the
South Shore and Greater Boston areas (including Quincy, Boston,
Milton, and Braintree), creating a rich tapestry of backgrounds and
perspectives.

The application deadline for The Woodward School is Jan. 15 / rolling (applications are due on Jan. 15 but additional applications are reviewed year-round as space permits ).
Woodward School for Girls is a treasure! It is an excellent choice for a young girl to get a 1st class education in a comfortable , safe, welcoming environment. It''s also a small intimate school that challanges those students that want to learn at a faster pace and be recognized. Our granddaughter graduated with honors, taking AP courses and acheiving very high SAT''s. She had a choice of many excellant schools. She leaves with confidence and is well preparred for her upcoming college years

The Woodward School of Girls in Quincy is the perfect school for our daughter.We are very impressed by the faculty , staff and administrators. We have seen dedication, enthusiasm, and engagement on their part. They teach their students to become more confident, great achievers, and leaders.Students and faculty have made our daughter feel very welcome since day 1.The school provides a very safe, diverse, caring, and thoughtful community. The faculty helped our daughter to be successful academically and try new things. The individual attention and the relationship that the girls have with their teachers are admirable. Our daughter is taking 4 AP classes and playing basketball this season. She was a part of every musical and show that took place for the past couple of years. We are very proud of her.We will always be grateful to Woodward for guiding our daughter to become a very successful student and a woman for others.ARK

The Woodward School is an extraordinary place where students receive the highest quality education from a dedicated, enthusiastic, and engaged faculty who can focus on each individual's growth and potential. As others have written, Woodward provides a positive, safe, and diverse community, emphasizing the importance of young women being leaders, and giving them the confidence to push for their goals. Our family knew Woodward was unique as soon as we entered the building, and our daughter has flourished there. The Woodward School has a tremendous impact on my family's life. As others have said, when your child attends you are part of a community. The small class sizes, and small school size are definitely an advantage but the attitude of the teachers and coaches is the key. They teach the students how to learn and how to act with integrity and ethics. They graduate with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to flourish in college and seamlessly transition to college level work and, in my child's case, ultimately law school.

I had a great experience at Woodward. I attended for 4 years, grades 9-12. The small class sizes and individual attention were trans formative. I went from being in regular gen-ed classes at public school to taking AP classes at Woodward and passing the exams for college credit. Almost all the students participate in extracurricular and the faculty and staff know every single girl by name. The individual attention students receive and close-knit environment are really unique.

It's not just the small class sizes but the quality of the education and the usage of the small class sizes that makes Woodward unique. At Woodward you are truly amongst your family. It is a sisterhood that spans beyond the walls. My classmates not only helped me achieve at Woodward but have been a great support system beyond that. My teachers were dedicated, encouraging and supportive individuals. The classical education provides a confidence in ones self and ones knowledge.During my time at Woodward I was a student-athlete (Soccer). Being a student-athlete really helped me to stay focused and organized and the motivation to not just be a good athlete but to be a good student from Coach G was invaluable. The heart of the school lies in teachers and Coaches like Coach G and there is no shortage of them. They do more than what a school requires of their teachers for students and even after being gone from Woodward for 15 years, I remain close to every single teacher who helped me to determine my career path and excel beyond the Woodward walls.
